The Hammond C3

An original Hammond C3, Hammond's other most well-known and desirable instrument

Hammond C3 console

The Hammond C3. This was and still is the other important most well-known and also desirable of all of the instruments that The Hammond Organ Company ever produced. Original Hammond C3s are today still used in many different musical venues, from traditional pops music, jazz, rock, gospel, and there remains a huge interest and market for original C3s that were made by the original Hammond Organ Company from 1954 through 1974. During that time, very few design changes were made, and these classic C3s are much sought-after, and very desirable collectors' items that are very good and practical musical instruments.

The Hammond C3 is tonally, musically and electronically identical to the Hammond B3. The only difference is in the style of the console woodwork. All internal parts of a C3 are exactly the same as the corresponding parts in a B3. The woodwork style of a C3 was designed to appear more appropriate in a church setting, whereas the B3 was designed to present better on a stage, although originally the B3 was referred to as the "home" model, and the C3 was called the "church" model. Other than this, these two instruments are identical. If you listen to a recording of music played on either a B3 or a C3, it is not possible to judge from the sound which model you are listening to.

All of these fine Hammond qualities are available in the traditional Hammond organs that we sell. At Main Street Music, we have original Hammond C3s in excellent condition, available for immediate purchase while the supply lasts.
